Veteran musician and worship leader Darrell Evans is all about spontaneity-Spirit-led spontaneity, that is. "I love the Spirit flowing in me and creating new songs through me," says Evans. "I try to be sensitive to what He's saying throughout each moment of any concert. I want to be led by Him. I want to sing the songs He desires to hear." Between his ever-popular song "Fields of Grace," his award-winning "You Bless Me," and worship favorites like "Trading My Sorrows" and "Let the River Flow," Evans has certainly caught the attention of the Christian music industry. He has won numerous awards, in fact, including two Dove Award nominations--one for his 1997 release, "Let The River Flow," and one for his 1998 album, Freedom--as well as ASCAP's Christian song of the year in 2000 for "You Bless Me." But for Evans, the ultimate goal is not the accolades of men; it's the approval of God. Says Evans, "I believe music was created and is intended to bring glory back to God."
