Lil iROCC Williams' name stands for "I Rely on Christ Completely"--and that is exactly what this young rapper seeks to do on a daily basis.
With a chart-topping self-titled debut album, exposure on WoW Hits 2004, and a host of accolades and awards, it would be easy for iROCC to lean on worldly successes. During its debut week the Lil iROCC release was the second highest selling CD on the Christian market. Later that year the album made no. 15 on SoundScan's Christian album charts, no. 27 on the Top Contemporary Christian Albums Charts, and no. 33 on Gospel Album Charts. In 2004 the young artist won the Stellar Award for Best Children's Performance of the Year and the UGA Urban Contemporary Best New Artist of the Year while being nominated for a Dove Award in the Rap/Hip-Hop Album category, as well. During his debut week, the week of June 23, 2004, he had the second highest sales among Christian artists. Later that year he performed as a feature artist at the 2004 Greater Los Angeles Billy Graham Crusade.
Despite these successes, Lil iROCC continues to rely solely on Christ. "It's not about me," he says. "It's about God the Father. I want to lead people to Christ, and also let them know it's fun to be with God. When you have Him, you don't have to be afraid of anything."
And afraid he isn't, for iROCC keeps forging ahead into new territories. In 2004 he launched his own record label, Authority Music, LLC, as well as a syndicated radio show called 180 Flip Mode, which features the hottest in urban contemporary music. The program--hosted by Lil iROCC and produced by his father, Big ROCC Williams--features artist interviews and drops. Big ROCC Williams also serves as president of Authority Music, LLC, and is a mentor to his son.
